I realized I missed my monthly update for May. My apologies! I've had a lot of work related things going on (hopefully will be more smoother from here on) and have been trying to work on personal projects (with no fruit to bear, unfortunately).
Actually I will have to say this last month has been kind of a renaissance regarding art for me. I've been trying to get back to the basics, I recently discovered chrisoatley.com/, a nice little art community that offers tips and resources to help with personal projects and art development (The Paper Wings Podcasts and Chris Oatley's Artcasts are very informative, definitely look them up if you're struggling with stories, comics, characters, time management, etc.). After several weeks of podcasts I finally looked into his Oatley Academy and signed up for his Magic Box course, to help with digital painting.
Aside from things on Chris Oatley, I also am taking a basics drawing class at my local art museum, and it looks like the instructor is covering a lot of the technical information I ended up avoided when learning to draw (like perspective, foreshortening, composition, etc.), so I'm actually really excited to learn.
Other than that, I've just been sketching ideas for fanart and potential stuff for a personal project, but there's a chance I may end up shelving said personal project. It's getting to the point where I have to force myself to work on it, and even then there's no passion. And if there's no passion, what's the point? This is probably the perfect opportunity to take a break, focus on the classes and just keep an idea journal until something really hits. I wanted to try and do a challenge where I have a novel by the end of the summer, but we'll see where that goes.
Hope everyone is doing well, and if not I am sending positive vibes your way~
